2022-2023 Hepatitis Queensland Annual Report

Hepatitis Queensland continues to play a critical role within the community in the joint effort to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030. Throughout the 2022-2023 period, we continued in our commitment to viral hepatitis prevention, testing and awareness initiatives.

The Hepatitis Queensland team expanded its highly regarded ‘person-centred’ hepatitis C testing program into new priority community environments, providing dignified and culturally appropriate access to care within easily accessible locations.

The organisation’s commitment to reconciliation was demonstrated by the launch of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. The two-year plan drives us to reflect on existing practices and re-envision how we can further support the journey towards enhanced liver health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Hepatitis Queensland’s Strategic Plan for FY24 to FY26 was established during the period, with leadership in the elimination of viral hepatitis the central priority. We will continue to make a positive community impact via education, collaboration and person-centred care initiatives, while also ensuring the long-term sustainability of our organisation.
