2024-2025 Hepatitis Queensland Annual Report

We are proud to present Hepatitis Queensland’s Annual Report for 2024–2025, a testament to our continuing dedication to improving liver health for everyone in Queensland. Over the past year, we have sustained our financial stability while driving meaningful impact through our core mission: supporting people living with or at risk of viral hepatitis and liver disease, and working towards the elimination of viral hepatitis across our state.

As the leading voice for hepatitis in Queensland, we remain a central part of the collective movement to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat. This year, we not only maintained but also in many cases exceeded our strategic goals and activity targets across prevention, testing, and treatment. Through strong partnerships and community-led initiatives, we have deepened our reach and amplified our impact.

Our reconciliation journey also advanced significantly this year. Guided by our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, we have reflected on our organisational practices and strengthened our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Central to this work is our commitment to culturally safe, respectful, and empowering health services for First Nations peoples.

One of our most meaningful achievements has been expanding our hepatitis C testing program into new priority settings, improving access and removing barriers to care. We’ve taken deliberate steps to bring dignified, person-centred, and culturally appropriate testing to people where they already are, reducing stigma and making early detection more possible than ever.

None of this would be possible without the tireless leadership of our Board, the deep commitment and passion of the Hepatitis Queensland team, and the generosity of our funders and partners, including Queensland Health, Hepatitis Australia, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, Queensland Corrective Services, ASHM, Brisbane South PHN, Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust, Gilead Sciences, AbbVie, Kombi Clinic, QuIHN, and many more.

We also extend our gratitude to every community member, advocate, and person with lived or living experience who contributes to our work. Your stories, your voices, and your trust are at the heart of what we do. Through genuine partnerships and shared decision-making, we are committed to making meaningful change.
