Amy joined Hepatitis Queensland in June 2025 as our Communications Support Officer, teaming up with Jessie to form our communications dream team. She is an experienced communications professional with strong skills in stakeholder engagement and strategic communication. Amy has brought contagious enthusiasm and positivity to the office, matched only by her passion to learn everything she can.

What excites you about your role?

Being able to engage with people in a meaningful way that can improve their health outcomes and provide them with stigma-free support. It means a lot to me to be a part of a community where people feel safe.

What’s something you’ve learned in the past month?

The importance of listening to and learning from people with lived-living experience. I can only do so much, they can empower a message to go a lot further than I ever can!

How do you define success?

Success to me is creating an environment where people feel comfortable having open and honest conversations. It’s about engaging people to take positive steps toward living their best lives and removing unnecessary stigma that is stopping them from doing this.

What work did you do before joining Hepatitis Queensland?

I worked in Infrastructure Comms, a completely different world.

What’s the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I loved my job as a check-out chick when I was a teenager – I loved getting to meet everyone in the community and hearing their stories, even then!

What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Anything outdoors, you’ll usually find me and my kids in the bush exploring!

Who inspires you?

My kids, everyday they have a fresh and beautiful perspective on life and I relish the opportunities where I can learn from them to create a better world for them to grow up in.

What’s a fun fact about you that people may not know?

I ran down the main street of my hometown with the baton for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and security yelled at me because I stopped to give my Nana a kiss!
