Hepatitis Queensland is pleased to announce the appointment of Anna Hawkes as the new Chief Executive Officer. Anna will lead the Hepatitis Queensland team and spearhead initiatives to see an end to viral hepatitis across Queensland.

Anna brings a wealth of experience in public health policy, practice, and research. Her expertise spans strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, advocacy and government relations, health promotion, and epidemiology.

Before joining Hepatitis Queensland, Anna served as the Manager of Engagement and Strategy in the BBV/STI Unit at Queensland Health. In this role, she managed the Sexual Health Ministerial Advisory Committee and was instrumental in driving strategies to manage blood-borne viruses and sexually transmissible infections, demonstrating her capability in managing complex health issues and leading teams to achieve public health goals.

Anna’s academic credentials are equally impressive. She holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Public Health, a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, and a Bachelor of Science degree with First Class Honours in Pharmacology. Her robust educational background, combined with her practical experience, positions her well to lead Hepatitis Queensland into the future.
