Hey, my name is TK. We moved here from Africa
when I was twelve.

This photo of my mum was taken in January. She was
taken away from us too soon.

If only we’d known mum had hepatitis B earlier, she
could’ve had the regular check ups and maybe even
started the medicine to slow it down.

Hepatitis B can be transmitted through blood to
blood contact and unprotected sexual contact with
someone who already has it. Mothers with hepatitis
B can pass it onto their baby during birth.

Dr Anan said, to be safe, all family members should
get a blood test to see if we have hepatitis B. He also
said that if we don’t have hepatitis B, we should be
vaccinated.
