HQ was privileged to receive a visit from Prof Alain Litwin and the Gilead Team on Monday 16th October. Professor Litwin was visiting Brisbane from the Bronx, NY, where his research is focused on developing and studying models of hepatitis C virus (HCV) care for drug users, and on advocating for increasing access to effective care for HCV-infected patients. Prof. Litwin has worked with government and community organizations on efforts to expand access to HCV treatment and has collaborated on policy statements, clinical 8060 alain litwinguidelines, task forces, strategic plans, and educational curricula with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, New York State Department of Health, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration, Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the American Society of Addiction Medicine.

His visit coincided with the finalisation of HQ’s new clinical service model for HCV testing and treatment in both the community and prison setting and he offered some valuable insights from his own experience with similar cohorts. HQ was invigorated by the discussion and would like to thank Gilead for making the time available in Dr Litwin’s schedule, for joining in the conversation and showing interest in the work we do. We look forward to ongoing collaboration in the future.

Prof. Alain Litwin and Gilead Visit to HQ
